I've been having ear issues again for a while lately so I visited an ENT today. She said that as far as the ears, there are a few things that could be going on. One possible thing that could be an issue is my braces. They are realigning and shifting everything and sometimes that can cause pain in the ears, combined with tooth grinding. I also had wax and a hair in my ear, LOL. She wanted to clean it out today, but I absolutely panicked and couldn't do it. After growing up with ear issues, having someone touch my ears really freaks me out. So, I am going back next week and premedicating with Ativan and Zofran. She said the ear wax probably wouldn't be causing the sharp pain I get, but it would explain some of the other issues.

She also referred me to an ear surgeon. She said she doesn't think I need surgery due to the above reasons, but we want to cover all our bases. As much as I don't want to suffer with my ears for the duration of having my braces, I definitely am not removing the braces, I paid tons for them! I also don't want it to be a permanent issue either though, LOL.

Funny enough, the main thing she focused on while I was there was my tonsils. That's not why I visited her, but she was very thorough.

She noticed that my tonsils were so huge that they were touching, and because of this I have a narrow airway. I knew that, LOL. But besides that, I also had a lot of other abnormalities. Apparently I have an abnormally large tongue, abnormally undersized jaw/short chin, and an abnormally long webbed palate. Combined with the fact that I mentioned I have a lot of fatigue during the day, I was also got a referral to have a sleep study done to see if I have obstructive sleep apnea. Of course, we don't know for sure yet but I have other signs such as snoring. If I do have apnea, there's the possibility of removing my tonsils, but due to all of the abnormalities there's an increased risk with this and we'd have to weigh the pros and cons. I'd consider going for it because I am tired of being exhausted all the time, and if this helps I'll take it. The other option is a CPAP machine to help me sleep better at night.

So, here's to possibly having answers!
