Unhappy Im becoming more and more depressed - August 8th 2012, 09:14 PM

Ok so my bf of 1 year broke up with me, i know everyone goes through it and through time it will get better. But it has been 6 months and not one day goes by that i don't cry over him. Its all my fault and i can not stop beating myself up and im becoming so depressed im blocking all my friends out. I have tried talking to professionals but nothing helps. I go through every tiny detail if i had done this or done that we would still be with one another. Iv been on hospital and he will just not speak to me, as if he hates me even though he wanted to be friends. Nothing helps. Any adivce?

Hey there,

First of all, like you said, you've got to get over this guy. It's not helping you any by thinking about him everyday, it's just hurting you. Maybe every time you start to think about it, try to do something to distract yourself, like trying out a new hobby, watching an old movie you've always loved, or going for a walk with some music. Clear your head and distract yourself.

It is not your fault. Sometimes relationships don't work out, and I know i'm not a professional and I don't know that much, I know that you will eventually get through it. You have to tell yourself that you will get over him and you have to make the effort to do it as well, or else nothing else is going to change.

Go out with your friends, you said you've been pushing them away lately, and that's never a good thing. Call one of them up and ask them if they want to go out for a night and have some fun or something along those lines. If they say anything about what's been going on, tell them that you're trying to get over this guy.

Not every professional is going to help, sometimes some of them just don't help with some situations, so try again. Just keep trying. Don't give up. You have to put in some effort to get over this guy. I really hope I helped a bit, if you need someone to talk to, feel free to message me. Good luck and take care!
