Am I the only one? - January 15th 2018, 06:23 AM

I suffer with depression and sometimes I get sad and/or cry for no reason. It makes me feel weird. Does this happen to anybody else or am I the only one? I feel like I am.

Hey there.
Thanks for reaching out to us. To answer your question, no you're not alone. Depression is actually more common than people think. According to the ADAA, Depression affects nearly 18.1% of the United States population. To put a number to that, its 40 million adults, 18 and over. (source)
So you're certainly not alone. I understand often it can feel like you are alone, but you are not. Having depression and feeling sad does not make you weird. Not at all.
I hope things get better for you soon.

You're definitely not alone in feeling like this, a lot of people suffer from different types of mental illnesses that can cause them to feel this way. You're definitely not alone, I believe almost everyone on this site feels alone and sad once in a while.

Hey there,

You are not alone. In fact, it is quite common for people who have been diagnosed with depression to experience this. They could be having a relatively good day and just randomly start to feel sad for no reason. One of the best tools to coping with this is seeking out a counselor and talking about these events and finding the proper coping skills to cope when you start feeling sad. With that being said, there isn't anything wrong with crying and, for a lot of people, crying can actually lead to them getting their emotions out and getting to a better place.

Wishing you the best.
