I don't know how to deal with his suicide - April 27th 2018, 01:29 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of suicide, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread therefore might not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

On Saturday night, one of my friends commited sucicde, and I don't know how to feel or what to do.

Him and I had orchestra all last year and got to know each other pretty well, and I would have considered him a good friend. But, this year I dropped out of orchestra, and we didn't have any classes together, so we naturally grew apart because of that. But, ever since Sunday when I heard the news, I haven't known how to feel about it. I knew some of his best and closest friends, and around them and everyone else I don't allow myself to show my full emotions because I don't feel I was close enough with him at the end to do that. I also think if I broke down around his very close friends that they would almost see that as disrespectful. But, now I can't even cry when nobdy is around, my body won't physically let me feel that, it's almost like I've become numb to that. I don't even know what I want advice on, I just know I'm struggling and I don't know what to do or how to feel about it.

Hello,

When someone completes suicide a lot of people can be affected. Even though you might not have been as close to him as others that does not change the fact that you are grieving. Something that you might benefit from is talking to the school counselor about how this has impacted you. While it might be a difficult conversation to have I think being able to let someone know how you are struggling could help. It's possible that talking to family or some friend's could help as well.

I agree that suicide affects many people. Just because you weren't as close doesn't mean that you have no right to grieve. It's natural to grieve for the loss of someone. I've been in that situation before, in fact, several times since 6th grade. It is difficult, and I also agree that talking to a school counselor and/or family/friends could very well benefit you. Know that you have people here to confide in, and that you aren't alone.

When the world drags you down, roll over and smell the roses.
