Try soothing jazz or soft music, a hot shower before your bed

Hey Paddy

Is there anything that triggers you to feel particularly bad before you go to sleep? I know that I usually tend to get upset when i'm trying to sleep too, because I start to think about things and all of a sudden i'll just have all these thoughts going around my head. I don't know if thats the same for you or not, but anyway it may be worth a try (if you don't already) to keep a journal or diary of some sort, to try and 'clear your mind' of anything before you try to drop off to sleep.

Is there anything that relaxes you, such as music or breathing exercises? You could try out some breathing exercises or even meditation - it's always worth a try and they should relax you somewhat. I know that you've probably already guessed but also try and avoid any sort of stimulants before bed, whether it's caffeine or even playing computer games, try and do something more relaxing.

If you get plenty of excercise/fresh air during the day it'll help to tire you out and make you ready for sleep. Lavender is supposed to aid sleep, try rubbing a little on your pillow? Don't eat or drink too soon before bedtime, and a regime is always good. The others gave good advice too.

I have had that problem too, what I found out that helps is to listen to some calming music, or your fave cd. It helps me, I hope it can for you too

I use pillow spray and that sends me right off to sleep. It's so relaxing. A counsellor once suggested to me to write everything down that was bugging me before I went to bed and then put the list away to deal with it another time and tackle each problem calmly and rationally when I am awake in the morning.

Live on love.
