Unhappy Anti social and depressed...? - February 8th 2010, 08:28 AM

Hi, my name is Mary, and I'm currently in Depression ....I've been having this for 3 months now, and my moods been going out of control. Sometimes I can't sleep at night, because I usually cry at night, and in the shower too. Sometimes I can be happy, but most of the time I'm not. Sometimes, I just wanna kill myself because I feel lonely all the time even with a few friends, family, or people around me. I currently not a cutter anymore, but sometimes I try to get high to make myself feel better. I always feel empty inside, and feel like there's something missing. I hide in my room from people alot, because I'm anti-social, I'm usually in my room way too much for like 6 to 10 hours a day. >.> I know I need to really change myself from being anti-social, but people I see at my school look like too much drama, and I just don't wanna be around that stuff. Also, I've had so many bad experiences with guys, I just don't wanna see them anymore, because they get on my nerves so much. Can someone give me tips of being social, but without hanging with drama people, or guys who are jerks? Jerks, because I feel like most guys at my school are big time jerks. They bully me, and mess with me most of the time.

First of all I think you should try talking to someone. Get some things off of your chest and you'll feel relieved. Besides, talking is a great way to learn things about yourself that you didn't know. For example, when I decided to just tell-all to my sister, I let everything come out, and things that I barely had any idea about were escaping. Some things may not seem so bothersome, but they really can be, especially when you have a lot more on your plate.

As for your friend situation, I take it that you want to find new friends? People overreacting about little things are definitely not the people you want to place yourself around and I know it can be worse when you're depressed. This is said a lot, but joining a club really can help. Or just getting into the community to do things you like to do. And ignore the jerks. The more you ignore them, the more they'll start to ignore you since you won't be giving them the reaction that they want. But don't put all of your thought into finding a boyfriend because you have a lot more to live for.

And stay away from the drugs. They won't help at all. They can actually make things worse.

I've had depression since I was about 14 years old, it just comes in random bursts and sometimes stays for several months. Since then I've become a major recluse, very anti social outside a select few people. Something that always helped me and kind of distracted me was to pick up a new hobbie. Of course I'm not saying you have to pick up a new hobbie, but it has really helped me out over the past 5 years. About being more social, though, Courtney suggested some pretty good things. Don't let them get under your skin, they're not worth it.
