Asking for help - April 8th 2010, 11:29 PM

I'm sick and tired of being depressed, sad, down, alone, and not being able to live my life how I want to live it. I'm ready to get help from a counselor and tell a trusted person how I am feeling.
Well, the thing is that I don't know how to go about it. I'm not sure what to say, or how to get a conversation about it going. Please help!

The fact that you want to talk is a very good thing. Just start with a friendly hello and yet yourself open up about your feelings. Once you discuss them you might even begin feeling a little bit better.

You could get it started with a note saying how you feel. That sometimes works for me.

I thank both of you for the words. My main problem is that I've been anti-social for quite a while and I'm not quite sure HOW to go about saying hello to someone and start a conversation. I'm worried that I'll do something wrong. The way I figured on approaching it was "Hey (name), what's up?" and then once they ask how I'm doing, tell them "Well, that's what I wanted to discuss. You see, I'm feeling (insert feelings here) and I'm ready to get help. I'm asking for you to be that help."

Not in that exact wording, but that basically. Thanks for the help!
