My Friend - April 16th 2010, 11:05 PM

Sorry if I ramble.
So a last week sometime my friend told me that she sometimes really suicidal. And she told me that she was seriously going to do it but it turned out that she did not do it because our other friend did attept suicide (he's okay know). So this week all was good till Wendsday she and I have the same English class and she just totally started freaking out. So I asked my teacher if I could take her to the guidance office. After that she calmed down and was a lot happier at lunch.

However come to find out she was planning to kill herself agian. She showed me her suicide letter to me, to me (she asked me if I wanted to read it I said no). I was shocked she showed me yet so thankful she said she wanted to burn them and I was really happy for her. But then the today she said maybe I should keep them for a while. I don't think she is suicidal at the moment. But I'm so scared for her. I know if she does I will not be able to keep going. We are each others supporter. We honestly know what the other one is thinking. And our promblems are almost indentical. I love her so much and want to help her but at the same time I am going through the same things. I guess I'm asking for advise on how to keep being supportive and how to support myself.
Thanks
Meg

What you need to do is get someone else involved, both for you and your friend. Your friend obviously WANTS help because of the fact that she is showing her suicide letter around, she wants to be heard. Just because she is not talking about suicide with you does not mean she is not thinking about it, she needs help regarless of whether she is still having impulses. Obviously there is something in her life that she feels cannot be overcome and for this she needs professional help. Suicidal thoughts do not just go away.

She does have professional help, she sees a therapist and is on anitdepressents. And she talks to her counselor at school.
