I'm scared. - April 29th 2010, 03:40 AM

Okay, so, I'm 14 and currently a freshman in high school. Until the last month or so, I've been, I guess... Okay. But then I guess things just... Got out of hand. I have a good chance of having severe depression (have yet to talk about it, I'm scared), I have (possible) anorexia (oh joy), as well as diagnosed severe anxiety disorder. Now, the anxiety I've learned to live with for years, but the anorexia and (possible) depression have showed up now and I don't think I can handle it.

Here are the 'teen depression' symptoms I currently have (according to several different online resources):
--Frequent sadness, tearfulness, crying
--Hopelessness
--Decreased interest in activities; or inability to enjoy previously favorite activities
--Persistent boredom; low energy
--Social isolation, poor communication
--Low self esteem and guilt
--Extreme sensitivity to rejection or failure
--Increased irritability, anger, or hostility
--Frequent absences from school or poor performance in school
--Poor concentration
--A major change in eating or sleeping patterns
--Thoughts or expressions of suicide or self-destructive behavior

And some 'anorexia Nervosa symptoms I currently have (also according to several different online resources):
--an intense and overwhelming fear of gaining weight or becoming fat
--At least three consecutive menstrual cycles missed

And some of my 'general anxiety disorder' symptoms, just in case you guys need that, maybe:
--Restlessness or feeling keyed up or on edge
--Being easily fatigued
--Difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
--Irritability
--Muscle tension
--Sleep disturbance

So... Please help me out here... I don't know what to do, and I'm really scared.

See a doctor. Yes you may be scared, but if you want help yor going to have to open up, because if you don't get help your going to get worse You need to open up to get better. A doc could help you.

If you need anyone to talk to pm me anytime.

Yeah... I've thought about that. But isn't it true that intent to harm yourself or others could get you into the psychiatric ward (I don't mean to be rude or offensive by calling it that, I promise)? I'm afraid of that possibility as well.

Sometimes and in some cases, but not all cases, i'm sure they would offer you medication and someone to talk to and if it didn't work maybe ask you to get hel on a ward.

Hey there! I think you should talk to someone. A teacher, ur mum or dad, a school counseler, ect. Do your best and that is all anyone expects you to do! Live life to the fullest and always smile. That is the best advice a person could get!

I think seeing a therapist or guidance counsoler would be your best option. If you find the right one fit for you, it can be an incredible help. Just knowing you have someone to talk to can make a world of difference. There's no way you should be fighting this battle alone. Being honest with someone is the best thing you can do for yourself, they will help send you down the right path wheter it be medication, further therapy, or some other form of healing. Just remember this isn't any different from a physical disease and if you seek help, I bet you'll find great recovery.
