About a friend - May 30th 2010, 05:25 PM

One of my best friends I think is struggling with depression. There's plenty to this story, but I'll get to the point. He told me last night that he is suicidal and while on a school trip we both went on that he tried to cut himself. One of the guys he was rooming with stopped him.
The thing is, I don't want to play games anymore. This has been going on for months. We help each other out when the other one is going through a hard time, but I don't want him to have to hurt as much as I did.
I'm going to tell someone, but I don't want him to hate me, or have that make things worse. I don't want to wait too long, because by then it could be too late...

Megan, I understand how you feel, but you have to tell someone so that he can get help. As the above poster said, once he calms down and realizes why you did it he won't hate you if he hates you for it at all. It might come as a relief for him because he just can't do it for himself. I hope you tell and that things turn out well for you both.

I have also dealt with a best friend wanting to commit suicide. I gave him a yellow ribbon and sent him to the principal, the principal did nothing, but that is just my principal. He was angry at me at first, but now he is thankful because he is recovering. He talks to me and I help him with all of him problems, he texts me at any time and I give him advice.
