Smile Feeling INCREDIBLE! - July 23rd 2010, 07:28 PM

I've been suffering from depression off and on, particularly the last 2 years, for about 6 years. Over this time friends have come and gone, happiness has done the same.

I've found an amazing friend that was able to help me sort out all my thoughts and get me back on track. Thanks bud!

Anyway, I've also found that depression is a mindset. Depression obviously isn't something you can just wave a wand and say "Depression be gone", then have everything fixed. It's a lifestyle, it becomes who you are. It becomes your soul and your mind, you start to live and breathe that depression. When you are feeling depressed, sort it out. You want the immense pain to end, not your life. When you end your life, chances are, you're ending your life to end the pain. They are two seperate ideas.

I very strongly recommend seeing a therapist or a doctor, and I suggest that you try to only focus on life's positives. After feeling so numb for so long; I feel now as if I'm high on life. I used to be so saddened by the rain, but now I think it's beautiful. I used to build walls around me to keep others out, but when you let them in, it's amazing.

Okay, I'm getting off track. But I wanted to share my joy with everyone here =) Thank you so very much to everyone here who has helped me through the bad days and been right there with me during those rare good ones.

Enjoy your day!

Hey, I'm glad to hear you're doing so much better. Recovery is not an easy thing to reach, and it takes a lot of strength to pull yourself out of something like that. I'm very happy for you. It's true that depression is a mindset, and at times it seems impossible to get out of it. I'm proud of you for seeking help and allowing people into your life. Remember that even if it starts to come back, you've gotten back up once, and you can do it again. Congratulations. Seeing people who've managed to pull through really gives me hope.
