Unhappy Old feelings - April 21st 2011, 05:09 AM

I thought that I was done with the urges to cut. I honestly believed that small things wouldn't send me back. Instead I'm crying because everything is overwhelming. I can't deal with all of this. I need new friends, I need to stop getting into dumb relationships. I wish that it would all go away. Because I'm not strong enough to deal with my parents, and guys, and friends, and grades, everything makes me feel so helpless. I wish I could stop crying and I wish my therapy appointment would just get here...

Hey honey, I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this <\3 Honestly, I wish this weren't the way it worked, but for most people who cut, quitting is a long difficult process with good days as well as bad days. The thing is hon you've got a pattern where when something scares you or upsets you or whatever it may be, you' got used to running to self harm as a quick fix. You've gotta get into a new rhythm with how you deal with life. Find something safe (because you deserve to be safe and treated with care by yourself as well as everyone around you) that you can replace cutting with. Maybe it's a sport or an instrument or texting your bestfriend... There's ALWAYS other options besides cutting.

Hey there.

I think because you've used self harm as a way to deal and cope with difficult emotions in the past, now your feeling a bit low again your mind automatically goes back to self harm and triggers urges. A lot of people use self harm as a coping method and although self harm isn't as such a good thing and I certainly don't encourage it, it proves that you're trying to survive this which is always a positive thing.

For now I think beating the urges if really important for you and I know its going to be hard but I also know that you have the strength to beat this. Have you tried looking at this these distractions which are alternatives to self harm. If not I really want to encourage you to do so. Not everything on that list will help you but there will be things which do and its all about trial and error and finding the ones which do help you so don't let the ones that don't help set you down. Keep on trying.

I hope this helps a bit. Remember not to be alone because people care about you and can and want to help.

Stay strong.
Jessie.
