Depressed? - May 21st 2011, 11:11 PM

For the past few weeks I've been really down in the dumps due to family stuff, friend stuff, and just school in general. The other day I looked up symptoms of depression and found that I had a lot of them. Here's what I've noticed that I read about:
-Loss of Appetite
-Sadness or hopelessness
-Loss of interests and activities
-Change of sleeping habits
-Restlessness and agitation
-Feelings of worthlessness
-Lack of enthusiasm and motivation
-Fatigue or lack of energy
-Difficulty concentrating

I don't want to think that I'm depressed, but I'm about 75% sure that I am. The other 25% is trying to deny that I am because that would just make everything seem so much more real and I'm not completely sure that I'm ready to face that yet.

What do you guys think? Am I depressed or just plain stressed out? If I am depressed, who can I go to for help?

It could just be stress, I would wait a little while and see how you feel.

If it is just a thing you're going through it seems like it'll get better. If not, and you don't feel like it is or it will then I would talk to a school counselor and see what they say. They probably won't diagnose you but they can at least help you understand a little more what you're going through.

We aren't psychologists or psychiatrists, so we can't diagnose you officially, but from what I'm reading, it certain does seem that you either have depression or a related mood disorder. I recommend talking to a professional psychologist, as he can properly diagnose you on this matter.

If you're uncomfortable talking to a psychologist, or don't have a way to do so, then I strongly urge you to at least talk to your school's counselor, a teacher, or someone else who you feel you can trust.

And, of course, you can come to anyone here for help any time. We can't diagnose, but we can console, comfort and cheer you up.

You should talk to a counselor, parent, or adult you trust, and tell them how you are feeling. Maybe you just need a break from school, and family issues. I'm sorry things arn't going well now, but things will get better.

Like the people above said, we can't really diagnose you since we haven't seen you, and taking advice from the internet could be useful but I don't know if it's accurate...

You should talk to someone you trust, preferably an adult. Why don't you talk to a parent, councilor, teacher, or trusted adult? They may be able to give you good insight.

Again, this thing you're experiencing could be stress, or just something momentary. If you truly believe you're depressed, I highly recommend you get it checked out as it gets ugly when it gets out of hand, trust me.

at times like these, its probably best to take out something sentimental that means a lot to you, and maybe read and reminisce about it.. or just watch a heartwarming story that means a lot to you ( MAKE SURE IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING ) and things will get better.
