I can't be bothered anymore - July 22nd 2011, 10:01 PM

I'm no longer "depressed" thanks to the Citalopram I'm on but I can't be bothered to do anything anymore. I can't be bothered to go out with friends. I find it too much effort :/ The only friend I can actually be bothered to be with is my best friend and that's because I see him like family. I know if I told him I can't be bothered to go anywhere he wouldn't care.

I want to see Harry Potter Part II but I can't be eff'd to get off my ass and go to the cinema with my mum's friend's daughter and try and make conversation with her :| I know that sounds nasty but I really can't be bothered.

I think this may have to do with depression but I'm no longer feeling depressed :/ I don't get it.

That's not uncommon for people on antidepressants. How long have you been on citalopram? I was on that and felt the same way. My doctor put me on a mood stabilizer, which helped, but he had to take me off the stabilizer. Then he took me off citalo and put me on a different med. That did the treat. No more depression and I felt motivated again.

Also could ask about a lesser dosage or cutting your pill in half. That was originally what the doctor tried.

Talk to your doctor. They may try something new.

oooh, I never thought of the citalopram being the problem I've been on them for nearly a year. I was on 20mg but now I'm on 40mg. I was actually thinking of asking my GP to change my anti-depressants anyway as they're making me gain weight like crazy >.>

I was on them a year too before I started getting that way. Just talk to them and see what they think. They'll likely change your prescription, and since they know citalopram worked halfway, they'll know what type of antidepressant likely works for you.

I'm on that too!

I've never had the problems with feeling that way though, it could just be that that's how it affected you. You could also be gaining weight because sometimes I eat more when I feel less depressed or anxious.

Good luck getting on the right medication for you (:

Since I've been on Citalopram I'm now two dress sizes bigger it's annoying as a lot of my clothes no longer fit me >.> I think it just makes me hungry. I haven't let really "full" since I started taking them and I used to have a small appetite.
