Exclamation summer depression? - July 26th 2011, 03:36 AM

Yes, I go threw depression but honestly its so weird. I mostly get it in the summer.

My doctor said my reasoning for it is that I had 7 family members die in the past 4 years all around summer....

Does anyone else have a bad depression in a certain part of the year?

If so...do you know what triggers it?

I wouldn't necessarily call it a depression this particular year, but in the past, I have known to be very depressed in the summers.

The reason being that I never really see any of my friends. In the past, I was homeschooled for five years. Last summer, I came within a hair's breadth of killing myself. I think that the season is just a reminder of what happened to me before, how sad and depressed I was before. At the beginning of every summer, it seems like I'm blindly walking into the depths of the sea, and I have to be careful to keep myself busy and keep at least some contact with my friends, otherwise I fall into despair again.

On top of that, I've never really liked the season to begin with. It's hot and muggy, and you can't do much to keep your mind from wandering. The only thing good about it is the blueberries and blackberries that ripen on our farm, and otherwise, I just would rather summer was never here.

I tend to get depressed around summer, or whenever I have an extended break from school. When I'm not in school, I just think about a whole bunch of problems either with life or family or whatever. Essentially, once there's downtime the problems just seem to creep up; I mean, that's probably why some people have difficulty sleeping, they think about everything right before bed, so the downtime you have probably makes you think about what's happened.
