My new viper gecko Zeno - May 15th 2014, 02:06 PM

I'm soooo happy having got this little guy as he's tiny but such a little character. Only issue is the crickets. Seriously, they're everywhere! But I shall deal with it for his adorableness, and his stalking of them.

Do you have any pictures of him??

Hey Laura!

I want to see pictures of the little guy too

As for the cricket situation I know some people put the tub in the fridge for about 5-10 minutes before they feed their animals. This makes the crickets easier to handle as they don't move around as much when cold. Just make sure you don't end up leaving the crickets in there for too long since if they get too cold it kills them.

I hope this helped!

Is he still a baby? If the crickets are a problem, I'm sure you could hand feed him dead ones if he's still young enough to learn. I did that with my toad and she seems to like the arrangement.

He's just over 8 months old so I think it's a bit late to teach him to take dead crickets. The issue with them escaping is more from the fact they can get through even the tiniest of gaps in the cricket keeper I have. Thinking of possible seeing if he'll take dubia roaches. Hopefully the pictures should work this time as I tried to upload some with the first post.

He's cute . Dubia roaches are great, never met a lizard that didn't fall in love with them, plus their more nutrious quieter and don't stink lmao. Downside is their abit more expensive but eh. ( Though i breed my own at this point with 600+ females )

I've thought of breeding dubia roaches but he's so small he could only eat smaller nymphs and even then everything I've read says they eat less roaches than they do crickets so he could probably only eat 2 or 3 every other day

He is so cute!

Just curious, do they get any bigger or do they stay relatively small?

He's grown to about 3 inches long now but that's about as big as he'll get which is great for transporting him.
