Look what my mom found! - July 2nd 2015, 02:00 AM

I hope that I added the image right

I named her Lady and she is very emaciated. My mom found her underneath one of the guard shacks of a company she works for and brought her home for us to nurse. She is such a sweet kitty, very friendly and cuddly. Once she gets her full strength back though I'm sure she'll be plenty ornery.

She had a bath with baby shampoo and it was disgusting at the amount of fleas and dirt were on her, and I had to pull off five ticks

This is all worth it though, all of this hassle. I'm just so happy that we were the ones that found her and not the company my mom works for, because they would have called the animal control.

How cute! I'm a foster mom to three kittens, so I know the importance of taking in animals who need a home. Thanks for rescuing her, and take good care of her! I know you will. Give her cuddles for me.

I'm so glad that she's in your care and please smother her with cuddles from me

An update: Despite being a little weak, she has been out and about away from her carrier for a few minutes today, trying to jump on the bed.

She still hasn't found her voice yet, it seems to me that she doesn't know how to meow, and she has attempted to purr but cannot figure that out yet either. With time she'll learn :3

At least she survived the night, that was my biggest fear.

She's a little fuzz ball.

Aww what a cutie. I remember my cat was not able to meow when we first got him. When she gets a little older she will find it <3

Aw, she's so cute. I'm so glad your mom rescued her and you're taking time to take care of her like this. She's so lucky to be in your care. Thank you for taking care of her, doing so is such a kind and selfless act. I'm sure she'll find her meow soon! Sometimes it takes kitties a little while to learn to purr and meow. Have you named her yet?

Her name is Lady for now. We're going to try to find another home for her though if we can, and if not then we'll just keep her.

Re: Look what my mom found! - July 6th 2015, 10:10 PM

I decided to re-name her Madeline. She looks like a Madeline to me :3

She found her meow! Yay! She is also more active and less sleepy after a deworming and flea treatment.

She does, however, have an upper respiratory infection that I need to get her into the veterinarian for, which is why she cannot purr!

I am glad she meowed! Madeline is an amazing cats name It's good that she is more active, she can start being a kitten.

Awe, I hope she feels better soon from the respiratory infection.

Madeline is a nice name and it definitely suits her! Do you know how old she is, approximately? I'm glad to hear that she's meowing and is more active. Sounds like she's happy and being taken care of well. However, I hope she feels better from the upper respiratory infection after a trip to the veterinarian! Keep us updated on the cute fuzzball.

Re: Look what my mom found! - July 8th 2015, 05:54 PM

The veterinarian told me that she could get well without any medicines, so now we're just waiting it out and keeping her as comfortable as possible. She gained two pounds (yay!), and is now litter trained, (double yay!) so far she's only had one accident on my beanbag chair.

What concerns me though is her sleeping in the litter box I keep her in a crate at night so that way she doesn't climb into bed with me, I'm afraid I'll roll over on her and being the size she is, I don't want to chance anything. The litter box is in her crate, so I cannot take it out except during the day.

Of course her being in the litter box is making her stink And I can't bath her yet because I bathed her a week ago She doesn't clean herself. Meh, I don't know what to do about that.

Eventually she will learn how to bathe herself, but in the meantime it should be okay to bathe her about once every week or two weeks. You're just gonna have to deal with her stank for a little while til it's okay to bathe her again.

So glad that she's doing so great! Hopefully she'll be up and at em soon.

My cat slept in her litter box as a kitten. I've heard they do that when they have environmental changes. She seems like she was really friendly when you found her, and in my experience that can be a big flag that she may have been someone's pet that ran away. Have you considered posting found cat flyers?

There is no way she had a home and if she did, they don't deserve her. Thanks for the thoughts any way.

Re: Look what my mom found! - July 22nd 2015, 02:48 AM

Well, apparently the kitten is under 8 weeks old So she was only 6 weeks when we found her. I finally got her into the vet and she has gained four pounds since we've had her, he is very pleased with her progress, her upper respiratory infection is gone, but she did have a warble (a tiny worm) imbedded in her neck, which the vet had to lance and remove But she's acting like it never happened, so she isn't in too much pain, but you know cats and they are great actors

Any way, this has turned out to be a happy story rather than a sad one. She's alive, well, and very, very ornery xD
