Meet Daisy, Our "Furbaby"! - November 16th 2015, 04:31 PM

Daisy is a Standard Schnauzer, 6.5 months old, with salt and pepper coloration. =) My husband and I both grew up with dogs (he had labs and beagles, I had a miniature schnauzer), but this is the first dog that is truly OURS (as in, not a "family dog"). We're so excited to have her!!! Of course, it's a bit exhausting at times, especially since her previous owners didn't do any training (they let her sleep on the bed, go on the furniture, and pee/poo indoors); however, Daisy is a smart dog, and with each day that passes, we're giving her a little more freedom in our condo (she has been quietly curled up next to me for the past hour, giving me plenty of time to catch up on TeenHelp duties and get ready for work).

AWW! I love Schnauzers, they look like old people. I saw one today in Pet Smart, but it was white! I didn't know they could be white.

Anyway, what a cutie! Give her all the hugs and pets for me!

Re: Meet Daisy, Our "Furbaby"! - November 17th 2015, 11:03 PM

Aw, she's really cute! Around where I live you see the minis a lot more often than the standards (and way more often than the giants) - is it the same where you live or are standards more common there? Either way, she's adorable.

Also, I feel obligated to throw in a quick sidenote: Daisy being allowed on the bed/furniture in general doesn't necessarily mean she hasn't been trained. Her previous owners probably just let her do it, meaning that her "training" equated to learning that she was allowed on furniture - and if that's the way they liked it, then that's perfectly fine. Now that she's with you, she just needs to adjust to the new boundaries - and as long as you're clear and firm with her, that should be relatively easy (especially since she's still quite young). Sorry if that came across badly, I'm just finishing up a course in dog training now so I'm in "dog training mode" and just throwing my opinion out there.

Anyway, she looks like a lovely dog, and I'm sure she'll settle into your household very well. Best of luck to you all!

Shes adorable!

Have you tried crate training her? Im in the process of doing that with a stubborn 8 m/o pomeranian puppy haha. Its done wonders!

Awe Daisy is so adorable
The training process is hard. I was always the one who disagreed with crating your dog. But I got my dog a crate and he goes in there when I am not home and during the night, sometimes he goes in during the day if I am busy cleaning. They won't make messes so you won't need to worry about a mess cause it's there bed, where they sleep. It's hard a first cause they cry and bark but it gets better. Not sure if you crate her or not or how you feel about crating.

She is very adorable.

She is so adorable! Reminds me of the miniature schnauzer I had growing up. I agree with Dez though, they look like old people. The cutest old people ever.

against every odd that is stacked against them.” — Nikita Gill
