Cat and the litter box - June 6th 2017, 06:39 AM

My cat drags things into her litter box. Socks, plastic bags etc. I am curious if anyone knows why? I did a Google search but all that came up were forum posts and people speculating. I'm wondering if any of the pet people here know why she and other cats do this?

if she thinks those kinds of things you mentioned may be useful
they are all things that could hold stuff in them, so maybe there is that confusion there

Were those items lying around nearby or were the items far away and she like picks them up with her mouth and like carry them?

When my cat throws up, he tries to cover it with whatever he can find and sometimes socks or plastic bags get dragged into there.

He does something similar in the litterbox. If he needs to cover something up and thinks a better job would be done with additional items besides litter sand.

But that's probably a speculation just as much as the forum users xD

They are relatively far from her litter box. Sometimes the plastic bags are a little bit closer but the sock was quite a ways away so she had to pick it up and carry it in.
