So I have a cat and his name is Bob my brother named him but now my brother doesn't live at home any more and I really really really hate the name Bob. My sister and I agreed on renaming him Simba. The thing is I don't really don't know how you go about renaming a cat. I figured I would just start calling him Simba all the time and soon enough he'd learn to answer to Simba. But I have a twitter page and a website for my cat (I love him A LOT) and his name is Bob on everything and I can't change it on most things. So I was thinking I should just keep his name as Bob online but in real life call him Simba. That just sounds really confusing so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on what else I could do. I also thought about naming him Simba but making his nickname Bob. Do you think that would work? And what nicknames are there for Simba? It just sounds like a long name to be calling him that all the time, do you guys have any ideas on how I could shorten it? And I'm giving him a new middle name but I can't figure out what it should be so if you have any suggestions for that it would help too.
Sorry if this is long...Renaming a cat is harder then I thought it would be. -Bri♥

Maybe keeping with Bob would be best because it's stuck with everything ... everyone knows him as Bob, and like you said he'd have to learn to respond to Simba. Maybe you could get a new kitten and name that Simba.

I can't get a new kitten my dad hates animals and I picked Simba for him 'cause it means lion and hes always acting like a lion. Simba just fits his personality. And I really hate it when people ask me what his name is and I say Bob and they start laughing. He learns quickly so getting him to respond to Simba is no problem he's already doing that. I just don't want to keep his name. I could have changed it a couple years ago when my brother moved out but I didn't for the same reasons you just gave me...I think I'll just keep his name as Bob online but everywhere else change it to Simba. So I guess all I still need help with is deciding on his middle name 'cause his old middle name doesn't go with Simba. And are there any nicknames for Simba?

I wouldn't suggest changing his name permanently. You don't want to confuse the little guy too much. :P
However, my cats have grown very attached to their nicknames. They still answer to their real names, but also respond when their nicknames are used (which is pretty often). Try to go for a more natural progression. Use it a little bit when you talk to him, but don't switch it fully. It's less confusing for all, I promise. Simbob!
When we got our cat her name was Poppy... (got her from a shelter) We ended up naming her Puppy cause she acts like a dog... and she was already 5 months old when we got her so we didn't want to change her name too much. I'd suggest not changing it too much from bob.. find something that sounds kinda similar .:6:21 a.m.:. .:12-01-2007:. .:Logan Jacob:. My Everything I support Project Linus! I have to agree, Simba seems like a better name than Bob. So, he already responding to it? That's cool. My cat responds to 'kitty' instead of his real name Pumpkin.
But I think Simba would work just fine. Peace, in the middle east |
