lost my baby... - April 18th 2010, 02:15 AM

Survivor, a mixed breed rabbit. He died a few weeks ago. He was almost ten years old. Considering how important animals are in my life and how special he was (he was MY rabbit, since he was born), it basically sucks. Everyone's just like, 'It's just a rabbit,' but animals are -always- so much more than that. Especially when you have one for that long, always there when everything else is changing and scary and painful. He was constant and nice and gentle. And he left with no warning at all. We still have our other rabbit but I mean, that's not MY rabbit- he's the family rabbit. Survivor was mine, there for me, and I couldn't help him. When mom left, when parents divorced, when relatives died, when best friends moved away, when everything was hell- he was there, soft and silent and sweet. So there. I miss him. A lot.

Why is it that so often, my friend, those who are extremely successful in virtually everything they do are so unable to see that this is the case?

Yeah, you might not be the right person to ask.

Maybe you could get another rabbit and name it the same name but put 2 at the end? =)

I'm so sorry about your loss, it really is hard to lose a pet, especially one that you have had for so long. I don't know what I would do if any of my pets passed away. Maybe get another pet, like a cat, or a puppy? Keep strong.

And I will take you in my arms, and hold you right where you belong.

I understand your pain, because he was a part of your life for nearly ten years and now he's not there anymore. I'm so sorry about what happened. Just think of all of the memories and good times you've had with him and be glad that you got all of that time with him! Once again I'm sorry for your loss. Take care and hang in there.

awuh =( sry to here about your rabbit. hopefully you can find a pet that'll be able to find that special place in your heart as well. I know what it's like to lose a pet...actually our family dog is missing at the moment. He's been gone for five days and since he doesn't wander and is gettin old we think he's not coming back. We've had him since I was in grade three and I'm done my first year of university almost so hes been with us a long time. Sad thinking he might not come home.. anyways hang in there *hug*

Oh sweetie I'm so sorry for your loss! I just lost my dog of fourteen years! It's so hard and I know it'll take some getting used to, but he will always life on in your memories, and maybe you could consider getting another pet to smother with love? I know that's pretty high on my list. I just hate not having an animal to love because like you said, animals are a big part of my life to. If you need to talk pm me <3 Megan

I'm so, so, so sorry for your loss! I completely understand. Animals are part of the family. Last month I had to put my cat Darcy down... It was tough, and I still miss him.

Keep your chin up!

Re: lost my baby... - April 23rd 2010, 09:17 AM

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I lost my sweet baby puppy (pictured in my signature) about a month ago now. It still hurts. Every time I even think about him I almost break down again. I get strange looks from people and they too tell me that "it was just a dog." But like your rabbit, my dog was more than just an animal. My dog was more a part of my family than most of my human relatives, and he was most certainly closer. When I was suicidal, he'd go into the kitchen and wouldn't leave me alone until I had put away the knife. When I couldn't leave my room due to severe depression, he would lay with me on my bed and watch me just to keep me company. He was so depressed when I had to go away to college and couldn't bring him (because he was a pit bull and my apartment wouldn't allow his breed), he wouldn't get out of bed for a month. And then he spent the last nine months being seriously sick for weeks at a time. The vets didn't know what was wrong. Then my mommy called me one night when he wasn't doing so well. He died only a minute after we had been on the phone. It hurt me all the more because I couldn't be there for him....I wasn't there for him when he needed me.

Ehf...I'm crying again..

By the way, I'm getting a tattoo for him in the next few weeks. I've designed it in such a way that it's for him but it also means so much more and pertains to other areas of my life, including my future, as well..

It's been said that dogs sometimes wander away from the family when they know they're going to die. But I know how hard it is not knowing what's happened to a pet. I lost a cat that way once. I do really hope that your dog comes back though..

Hi.
I'm really really sorry for your loss.
I'll bet you're taking very hard. It's incredibly hard to lose a pet. Especially one very close to your heart.
I hope you feel better! Remember the happy times you've had together. Maybe that could help ease the pain?
Take care

thnx m'dear. Guess who is home again! We definitely didn't think we'd see him again.

Turns out he followed this truck home and they tried to figure out who he belonged to but they had to take him to the shelter because they had little kids. Our dog it getting old and has never really liked younger kids. We don't have a shelter in our lil town though so they took him to the nearest one. We're actually super lucky we found him. The shelter would have put him down had we not called soon since he's older and not good with kids. I guess a kid was looking at him through the cage or something and he like nipped at them. Definitely lucky nothing happened or anything. It'd be soooo much worse to find out they'd put him to sleep than if we wouldn't have found him again. Anyways..ya he's back! Welcome home Buddy!

I'm so happy for you! I can only imagine the relief you must feel. And I despise that shelters do that! It really pisses me off. My dog that recently died once followed a stranger walking home and they called the pound. And we live only a few miles from the state line, so they took him to the next state because that shelter was closer. Had we not found him, they would have put him down just because he was a pit bull...never mind that he was the sweetest dog and wouldn't hurt a fly.
