Would you rather give your pet a human name or a pet name? -
February 26th 2011, 10:05 PM
Would you rather give your pet a pet name like "Ms, Scruffy, Dusty, Comet, or Pal?" Or a human name like "Dominic, Issac, Samantha, or Francine?" Or would either be type be fine.

I'd probably be more for a more human name, though it'd probably be something intense like Zeus or Kraken or something out-of-the-ordinary. I'm just weird like that though

Dominic the cat. hahahahhaah.
I'd like either, although it would still have to fit just right. I wouldn't call my cat or dog say, Richard, but neither would I call either Fluffy or Mr Squibbles. I always give my pets human names, or name them after companies/products, I know that's just sad ^^
I have had a variety of pets, my sister named my male dog a female name and it ended up gay, I still blame her for that one though

My dog's called Poppy. To me that was always more of a pet name but recently it has become a really popular name for girls.

I think it depends on the type of pet really. All the pets I've had though have had a mixture between pet names and human names.

I don't know ... either is cute.
My friend's dog is called Alfie and he "suits" it, if you can say dogs suit names ... but another friend's dogs are called River and Sky and they suit them too ... Either way I guess, I'd have to wait until I actually got one. You can't move mountains by whispering at them. Take a look at my art here: http://attemptedart.tumblr.com/ |

To give you an idea...
My cats are Bubba, Squirt, and BC. My dogs are Cocoa, Raine, and Chloe. Chloe's the oddball because my brother's ex-girlfriend named her. Bad idea. Although, she IS the oddball of the family anyway. ![]() So, I voted for pet name. I'm the one who named Bubba and Squirt. I've had both. My dog's name is Bella and when she had puppies we named them Boone, Annie, and Kevin. So I guess all my dogs have human names. Any other pet I've had had pet names with the exception of the hamsters I had.

I chose either, because I'm going to name my dog after a person, but it wouldn't suit a human name as a first name.

I'd probably lean more towards human, but I also think that every name should have a meaning.

Well I would say either, but I wouldn't use Mr. Something. It has to be a one-word name!
For example Pebbles, and Snowy are not really human names, I like those ones (my friend called her cat zazzles for eg) LOL but then I also don't see anything wrong with the name Poppy, Oscar, Lucy, Milly, Tabitha etc! I am a Proud Kiwi =)

Most of my animals have always had human names. Almost.
I had dwarf hamsters: Angel, Lucky, Pepper, Bashful, Sweetie, Shiro, I don't remember other names I have ferrets: Bonkers, Riley, Loki (soon), Lincoln, Booth And a degu: Jack Had cats: Kiki, Zoey, Little Bit, Eclipse I suppose a bit of both, but generally human-like names So you have gray hair and you're only 26

None of my pets have human names actually, but I am not opposed to SOME human names. I have Java(dog) and Sapphire(horse) at the moment but if either of them were a boy then her name would have been Gabriel. However, I have come across horses named : Jim, Bob, Pete and others I can't think of at the moment. Those are just terrible names for any animal. Also, I work at a dog kennel and there is a huge excess of dogs named Buddy, as well as Molly although I think Molly is a cute name for a dog. Buddy for a dog is just uncreative(Sorry Cola! Budrick Duke Biggles is an awesome name though
).
