Yay for Harley!

Just a random yay thread here, but for about the fourth time in a row, my year and a bit old, yet absolutely tiny sinaloan's milksnake, Harley ate both of his pinkies without any fuss. By pinkies I mean tiny baby mice. He should be eating bigger ones by now, ones with more developed bones, i.e. more calcium content, and hence he should be bigger, but he's remained my tiny wee Harley due him being really stubborn with his food.
Usually, if I wiggled it around too much, he'd be scared of it, or if I wiggled it not enough he'd ignore it.
He even constricted for the first time ever last feed, so who knows, maybe he's decided he's going to be a good wee snakey now ^^. Still sheds terribly, but ohwell, can't have it all ^^;

But yeah, I'm just quite cheerful about this, since he's usually my problem-snake.

Here's an older pic of him, since I couldn't take a recent one due to him being curled up in his kitchen roll tube digesting his meal now and I don't want to disturb him .



Not the best pic, but he gets to show off how pretty he is. .

Also, as a sidenote, I don't actually know if he's a he, and I won't be able to tell until sexual maturity, and even then it'd be an educated guess. I mean, it doesn't matter since I have no plans to breed him and Harley is a uni-gender name, but yeahh ^^;

I'm not going to lie, at first I thought that milksnake said milkshake. Harley is a very good looking snake though, very colourful!

It's one of the reasons I really like milksnakes, they've got beautiful colours and this particular kind has the most intensely vibrant reds. You don't usually get such pretty patternings outside venomous species. Just amougst species that pretend to be venomous ones, like little Harley here. Interesting fact, in the wild, snakes of his type (4ft long on average, about an inch thick tops) will kill and eat rattlesnakes o.o;. Totally can't imagine that with my wee guy/girl

Yup, I think his next feed does fall in around then ^^. p.s. Can't wait

Hehe, he only really gets one when needs to, since snakes are naturally clean animals and stuff.

It's such a pretty snake! I usually am not a fan of snakes but I like that one! I would want one but I could not handle feeding them, cuz I like all animals.....except centipedes *shudders at the thought*

I feed my snakes frozen food...I find it makes it easier ^^; It does totally take some getting used to, but after a while you just start to think of the frozen rodents as 'meat' or 'snake food', nothing more.
But I do totally get what you mean, when I got my first snake, that was my biggest worry, and I had to totally steel myself up for feeding time xD
