First turtle, help!!

Today I got my first turtle. She is a female Red-Eared Slider, about four inches long (shell). I got her rather unexpectedly so I had no time to prepare or research anything. So if anyone has any advice it would be so so great!

Background: I got her down in L.A. so she had a 6 hour car ride home, during which the lid of the container she was in got bumped off and she crawled under the back seat. but she was okay. When I got home I got her in her tank with some around 80 degree water (I believe thats on the high end but we dont have a heater or basking light yet). She swam around and ate some pellets so I think that means she's okay in her new home.

Aww turtles are really cute. =3 Right now she's probably a baby, and really cute. But she will get bigger, and live a really long time, so get ready!! A lot of people keep their turtles in a pond, though I'm not sure what kind of area you live in. I've always wanted a pond, but never lived in a place that it would be good in. Be sure you give her a wide variety of food too.

I don't know too much about turtles or red-eared sliders. But that's what I do know I suppose. Kelly's link seems to be pretty legit too.

Aw, my sister has one. She got it a few years ago at the pet store. it's tank mates had bit off it's tale and bit it's neck but she's okay now (:
