does our dog look half bulldog??

he is part bull dog part lahsa apso and he has some poodle. Because he jumps very high. He's larger than all breeds though. Aren't bull dogs small dogs. He is 19 inches and 18 lbs...larger than all the breeds he's mixed with. Also the pound said he was just miniature poodle and lahso apso. He's a docile dog and not at like a lahso apso besides that he barks a lot. But most people say his ears don't belong to poodles or lahso apsos. And the vet said he could have bulldog in him. And my mom thought he was mixed with bulldog... What do you think?? Also the vet said he's likely not just lahso apso and poodle. His groomer called him a lahso apso/bulldog mix. My qualm with him being a poodle mix is that they have curly textured coats he doesn't. It's completely straight. His muzzle isn't snub but not at like the poodle's....

It's not a poodle or a bulldog! It has got a terrier mix in it. Not entirely sure what terrier dogs though! I am thinking Border terrier:

I work with dogs, so I know a bit about breeds. Here are some pics...

Poodle mix (I say mix, because mixs often have straight, slightly curled, or wavy hair, only purebreds have the curly hair)




I definitely see ZERO bulldog in your puppy. Doesn't have the extra skin, stocky stance, or the jawline to really qualify as a bulldog. There are many more likely scenarios to explain for the size and ears. I certainly don't see miniature poodle either, though perhaps some sort of poodle mix, just not miniature. I can however see the Lhasa Apso in him, along with Boarder Terrier as suggested before. Obviously your vet -should- know best, but I'm doubting that to be honest. I don't even see a hint of Bulldog

I personally don't generally go by personality to determine a breed. In my experience, while there are some traits that go along with many dogs (labs love food, retrievers love water, ext) They're not really enough to override the Nurture aspect, being how they're raised. Especially when it comes to traits like how calm or hyper they are. That's often all about how the family raises and handles them if you ask me.

If you ask me though, there's nothing wrong in just telling people "We don't know for certain" or "He's a mutt."

he doesn't have curly hair though even when it's long. My aunt had terriers said his hair wasn't like theirs and he doesn't really have a can mouth. I think at the shelter they said he was a poodle mix because he can jump 5 feet from his feet. But his hair isn't curly. Aren't border terriers small dogs? He's not small. He's lightweighted but his height is about medium. That's why I thought this dog probably from a bigger breed.

There are a lot of very similar terriers that he could be mixed with, which is why it's so likely, ranging from very small dogs to large breeds. Boarder terriers are generally small-medium, which it sounds like your dog is.

That's just a rough average, not all dogs have to fall under that. Boarder terriers often fall above that line

19 inches is never small though. Also are border terriers strong. At the groomer it was hard to control he's very strong for even his size. The only thing is he won't use it against any dog who threatens him. He's so submissive. Lahsa apsos I've never read they were that way...

18 lbs is small, if you ask me.. just saying. My boyfriends jack russel is almost 30 lbs.

He does kind of stand like a bulldog... It does look like he is definitely part Lhasa Apso, and it's possible that he has some bulldog in him, but there are also lots of other possibilities. Whenever people ask me what breed my dog is, I always just shrug and tell them that she's a mutt, because she is such a big mix of things. (Our best guess is Pekingese/Japanese Chin/Pug/Beagle/Chihuahua/some other hunting dog)

btw he's actually 20 inches..... Which is quite tall. A cocker spaniel isn't even that height. Standard poodles are about his height or shorter.

yeah guessing isn't going to make it more true you're right. I tend to tell them he's a lahsa apso mix. Because he's so large....
