Question Will the Butterfly Project work? - December 3rd 2012, 10:20 PM

I really would like to know, and hear opinions from people who maybe HAVE tried this. Does it work? I've started it just two days ago, and want to know how the results may end up. Help me?

Hey there,

Well, everyone is different and every person has alternatives that work or don't work for them. This means that there isn't a 100% chance that what works for me works for you. But, it's awesome that you are giving this a try, and I hope it works for you!

For me, it does work. What helps me along is having someone I care about draw the butterfly on me, or I name it. That way, it has even more special meaning and I have even more motivation not to cut. Maybe you can do something similar, either name it or have someone draw it on you, and it'll help.

All in all though I do have a good experience with the butterfly project and I tend to not cut at least until the butterfly fades, and by that point there's a good chance the urge will have gone.

I hope that you have similar results! Stay strong!

I think it's great that you are giving this a try! It doesn't work for everyone, and I know that some people find other things work better in place of the butterflies (so you could always try that). I tried this at one time, and it worked for a little while, but personally, I found it more helpful to write the names of the people that I knew cared about me instead of drawing butterflies. Good luck!

Like the above posters said, everybody is different and not every alternative will work for everyone. That said, the butterfly project sometimes works for me. When I draw the butterflies on myself, they usually don't have an effect, but I try not to kill the ones other people draw on me. It's nice to look down and be reminded that someone cares. Also, my friend Justine draws really elaborate butterflies, and they're so pretty I don't want to hurt them .
