Question I don't scar... - July 20th 2013, 08:19 AM

Hey all....here's me, I'm asking another stupid ?, sorry. >_<"
But I've noticed something...whenever I cut, or have in the past, I never scar... I mean, yes that's good in a since but is it because I'm not cutting deep enough? It bleeds, but I never scar except two on my hand....I was just wondering.

(P.S. I've been cut free for 3 weeks! )

The girl who always laughed it off
Cried.
The girl who would never stop trying
Finally gave up & quit."

I don't really actually scar either - the only ones I have which are now fading are from scratching til it bled (it was during school too - I'm surprised nobody noticed). Anyways, not saying that you should do this, but I think it's a combination of the cut being shallow and (possibly - don't hold me to this though because I honestly have no clue) not being infected at all or anything - completely clean

And good job - three weeks is a long time! I think I'm at a little bit under 3 weeks right now...
Edit: just checked, and it's actually only been 14 days...

Well I've got hundreds of deep think scars all down my arms and wrists and on my legs and I know that they've never going to go, so I hope you find this a god thing? I am assuming you haven't scared because the cuts you've made aren't deep enough which is really positive.

If you ever need to talk to anyone though, we're always here for you. Cutting deep or not, there's always a reason why people do it and if you need support, that's okay

Some people scar more easily than others. My ex-friend self harms, and her scars are lighter and fade quicker than mine, even though her cuts are usually worse. It really depends on your skin and how quickly you heal.

Also, congrats on 3 weeks clean!

Hey there,

I think that it is probably a combination of things actually. There are people who scar more easily than others so you might just not be one of those people that scar easily. And, it could be due to the fact that you are not cutting deep enough which is a REALLY good thing.

I have numerous scars on my arms that are deep and will never fade completely and because of that I will have to wear long sleeves or arm warmers for the rest of my life. It is a hard thing to come to realize because there are days when I want to be able to go out in public without my arm warmers but then I see my scars. The fact is, you don't want to have the scars even if at times you might wish you had more scars one day you will be grateful that you don't have them.

Lastly, you should be really proud of yourself for going three weeks without self harm. That is an amazing step to be taking.

Best of luck.

Hey there,

The previous posters are right that it's probably a combination of things. I don't know your definition of "deep" but I know that from my personal experience, some people scar more easily than others. I also noticed that sometimes it also depends on the location on the body. For instance, I don't think I cut overly deep, but the scars on one part of my body are very light, another part has darker scars, and another part doesn't really have any noticeable scars. You definitely don't want to get into the habit of cutting very deep, though, as this can lead to even more problems that I'm sure you don't want.

Three weeks self harm free is amazing, though. Keep up the good work!

you're very lucky that you don't scar honey, Maybe it is because you aren't cutting deep enough for a a scar to form
