What could happen? - November 21st 2013, 11:15 PM

I have been cutting every day for over a year now. I feel like I am going to get caught one of these day especially because I started cutting at school (I'm a college student). What would happen if I got caught? I'm beginning to lose control.

I think that if someone was to find you out, they would encourage you to get help. As far as teachers go, they may pull you aside and speak to you about it, but unless they see you as a serious risk to yourself, I don't think that they can force you to get help (someone correct me if I'm wrong) since you're an adult now. Friends and family may want to offer you support, though, and I do think that you should talk to them about it, or a professional such as a doctor or therapist.

I also suggest you start finding things to do in place of self harm. For instance, you can use one of these alternatives. These are healthier, safer ways to cope so you don't have to worry about hiding anymore, or the risk of infection.

Best of luck!

-Dez

I'm not sure I want to quit self harming. I feel at a loss without it and like I will have no other way to keep my feelings under control. The only end I see to my cutting is my death.

This was in High school but if you are using a razor blade at school I think the same thing might happen because the razor blade is a weapon. Anyways I got caught with a razor blade at school they told the principal, school counsilor, the teacher who found out then they called the cops too. I got taken out of school in handcuffs and was taken to the hospital. From there it was mine and the on call psychiatrist idea to send me to the hospital for a 51/50 hold which is a 72 hour hold.

Anyways I do not know what if any of this will happen if you get caught since it is college but it might since the razor blade is considered a weapon.

I think you should try the alternative thread and try some of those instead of cutting. You can always pm me anytime too.
I hope this helped a little.

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing,
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
Just be true to who you are
