Summer - June 8th 2015, 01:04 PM

Ok, this is more of a rant than anything but anyway...
It's summer and it's hot and I absolutely hate it! Everyone is running around in tanktops and I have to wear long sleeves because I'm way to insecure about the scars on my arm and if someone asks me why I'm wearing arm warmers when it's super hot I have to tell them I'm cold and arghhhh
I can deal with long jeans. That's ok, I did that last year to, but noone asked stupid questions then and I didn't feel like I was going to die of a heat strocke....

Has anyone else problems like that? or maybe a solution? I tried make up but it doesn't work. Somehow it just doesn't stick to the scars so instead of hiding them it pronounces them even more...
And summer has just started.....

It's ok to give in to an urge or make a mistake. You are only human and we all have our flaws. We all have our weak moments and we all make mistakes. Thats what makes us human.
Thats what makes us unique and beautiful

Courage isn't always a loud roar. Sometimes it is a quiet whisper at the end of a day saying: Tomorrow I will try it again!

I had the same problem, because of scars I have on my two arms. First, I tried to hide them, but then I came to a conclusion that I won't stand it for so long. I hate when it's hot, really. So, I said to myself - stop. I mean ; not only quit hiding the scars, but making them as well. I broke this vicious circle Now I have several scars left, but I don't care if someone sees it, it'll heal up

Well I just cut my arm and put my arm warmers on and it's going to be like 90 degrees today. But I don't hide my scars at all. I know how it is though honestly what I did one summer when it was hot I bought the fishnet arm things and wore those even with fresh cuts. Nobody noticed what I had done they just saw the fishnets so maybe you could try those because they are cooler.

I have the same problem but I have started wearing kimonos. They are so so light and you can get long sleeved ones and I find them helpful in hot situations Maybe you could look into buying some?

However, don't be afraid to go out with your scars on show. They don't define you as a person or make you any less of a person and you are worth more than them and what anybody would think of them if they were to judge you for it.

Hope this helps!

Re: Summer - June 8th 2015, 11:35 PM

I do frequently hide my scars, but if they show occasionally then I don't mind people seeing them either. A lot of people in my life know about my self-harm and they don't mind seeing scars but I definitely try to hide them. But, like someone else said, scars don't define who you are as a person because you're so much more than that. My scars are on my thighs and upper legs, so I usually wear longer shorts, capris, or leggings of some sort. I'm also into wearing athletic shorts with spandex underneath and I use those to swim too. For your arms, you might be able to find clothing that covers them but has light weight fabric, too.
