Urges - August 16th 2009, 04:50 PM

It's coming back, AGAIN. I don't want to relapse, but I think I might.
It's been almost a month now... Before that it was five.
It was an argument within family (I had nothing to do with it, but I tried to stop it), and the urges are back.

It's been a lot lately. I don't want to relapse... It's hard not to...

Hi there!

I know what it feels like to have those urges after a long time. But you have to be strong.

All of us have more than enough strength to over come them. You should try to find that strength and I know you'll succeed.

And don't blame yourself if your family argues. Just try to block them out, that's what I do.

Good luck!

Arg, I hate that so badly. I went almost seven freaking months without it, then one day I slipped up after a fight with my sister. I've been clean for over a month though.

What I do is tell myself, "Wow, I went almost SEVEN months without it. If I can get through that much time, I can do it again and get even farther." It really helps

when you love and laugh abundantly you live a beautiful life.

Hey there,

It can be awful to feel those urges coming back and it can be an awful thing to have to deal with.

Congratulations with all of the time that you've spent self harm free, that is absolutely amazing. I think that it's great that you've used your strength to hold back from self harming for such long periods of time and I think that you should keep telling yourself how strong you are. You have refrained from urges for so long and so there's no reason that you would have to give into them this time. You have done and are still doing so well.

Have you checked out the alternatives sticky? It's [here] and perhaps you could even add some of your own alternatives if you can think of any - anything that is a distraction can help you until these urges fade, which they will.

You're doing so well.
Take care.
