Im ashame'd! - January 31st 2009, 08:49 AM

I used to cut pretty badly tbh,
Up to my elbows, and even on the back of my hands,
Ive noticed when its cold, my scars stand out way more,
Everyone knows about them now,
but ... it looks horible!
Last time I cut was like ... before christmas,
So im doing well i think but the scars arent fading at all,
but yeah ... my arms /wrist look horible,
discusting even, im actully ashamed of it.
&+ at school, i dont wear a jumper, so there on show.
and considering everyone knows; even teachers,
i still try and hide them, because well ew.
and im going on holiday to Spain in summer,
so when i get a tan, they stand out EVEN more,
Eurgh, i regret every minute of it,

I met a girl who hated the world - she used her body to sell her soul;
Everytime they'd break her and pay - tear out her heart, and leave her in pain;
I never found out how she survived all of the sadness she kept inside;
I never found out how she could lie with a smile on her face;
and the scratches she'd hide (8)

It's good you've stopped, you should be proud of that

And I know the scars aren't nice to look at, but you could change how you look at them. The scars are proof of a journey you went on, and it was a hard journey, but the fact that it's just scars, reminds you of the obstacle you overcame, of how hard you worked and how much you've grown! And I''m guessing that profile picture is you, and if so, then you're a very pretty girl. Donn't let something get in the way of that

If you're really worried about them, try biooil, it's really good. In fact, there's an entire sticky associated with this, have you seen it? here: http://teenhelp.org/forums/showthread.php?t=252
That can be really useful for covering up before they fade away, which can take a very, very long time.

If you ever want to PM me I'd be glad to talk

It is great that you've stopped (:
If the scars really bother you, then maybe you should buy some cream that can fade them. But when you find yourself looking at them and thinking how disgusting and gross they are, try changing your frame of mind. When you cut, nothing good came out of it. Just these ugly scars. Maybe they can be your motivation to keep holding back when you want to hurt yourself, because you don''t want to create more of them.

Scars are a part of your past and unfortunately they are something that you will have to deal with. There are things like scar creams that can help minimize them, but for the most part you are stuck with them. Time will fade them of course.

Personally, there isn't a scar on me that I'm not okay with (on most days, I still have my days when I hate them). They remind me of the past, of all of the things that went wrong. Each one tells me a story. I view them as something that I overcame, a reminder that I am working towards defeating an addiction.

With time, they are a part of you that hopefully you will learn to accept. However, they are there and you'd be surprised how many people don't notice. My arms are in constant view and I wear shorts a lot when the weather permits. No one ever comments on my scars, even the horrid ones on my ankles. Most of them see them and assume it is my business. If anyone says anything, tell them that it is a part of the past now. You've done really well with, you haven't cut in quiet some time and hopefully you'll be able to keep that up.
