URGH! - February 4th 2009, 08:23 AM

i don't know where to put this but i'm just so freaking angry and stuff and such likes and it's to do with selfharm so i guess this is the best place to post

I've been self harming since like for ever, as has one of my friends at uni and we both agreed to stop and if not stop stop having noticable cuts because it was really upseting us both...so i fucked up and cut a few weeks ago and am now seeing a concellor to really really push to stop and i've kept my arm covered for weeks in lectures so not to upset him

so having been a total dick to me last night he turns up today with his arm COVERED in cuts wearing a t-shirt despite the fact it's fucking snowing

and i'm just so angry and i want to fix him and yeah i just don't no what to do or think or feel

end rant

Hey Fiona,

It's good that your seeing a councellor about your cutting, and dont worry, you just slipped up, even the best of us slip it, as I said on another thread, you just gota pick yourself back up, and get back on track. Just talking it out helps loads, I find. Whats done is done, you can't change that. And did your friend cut to get back at you? Or was it for a proper reason? PM me if you wish.

thanks for the reply staceyanne.

I have no idea why my friend cut i just kinda feel like it's sort of my fault and i'm really angry with him for not taking everyone around him's feelings into consideartoin because we have already told him how much seeing it hurts us and how much it triggers me and stuff, and then to be so gah about me yesterday and clearly have an issue that i've started dating one of our friends just annoys me but then i get upset that i'm angry with him

very confusing

That is very immature of him, and really awful. I think you should not worry about stopping for each other, you should stop for yourself. Tell your friend you really didn't appreciate that, and you're sorry you've upset him enough for him to actually do that, but that's not going to help either of you quit.

We're not stopping for each other, we just agreed we would cover any cuts because we both find seeing them on each other (well on anyone) really triggering, i'm stopping because i'm fed up of it all etc.

i think i'm just going to ignore it tbh. everytime he cuts i give him attention and make sure he's okay etc. etc. and i really can't be bothered anymore, it's his life and his problem

yeah, this is not going to last lol

Re: URGH! - February 7th 2009, 04:48 PM

thats very insensitive of him to do that, especially when you're making the effort not the trigger him. don't ever feel like its your fault when someone else self harms, its most definitely NOT your fault. although its very frustrating when you see a friend self harming, there isn't anything you can do unless they want to stop. its a great step that you're now seeing a councellor and i hope it helps you!

i think its a good idea that you don't give him the attention when he does self harm, because to me it does sound like he's looking for it. concentrate on yourself and getting through your own self harm issues rather than putting your efforts into someone who is likely to throw it back in your face.

..and our dreams will break the boundaries of our fears..
