Unhappy And here it goes again - June 2nd 2010, 03:23 AM

So all I want is to be healthy and stop cutting. However, it's been getting worse it's like I don't even think anymore I just do it. Some days it scares the crap out of me because I don't know how deep or how much I'll do next time. I just need to stop. The more I think about it the more upset I get and the more I want to cut because I'm upset. It's a loose loose situation

well if you really do want to change..
everytime you think about cutting change the subject
if your holding the knife right in front of you put it down and walk away...
every time you want to just go some wheres else yell hit a pillow what ever just find your self a not so painful way of going about it..

theres always other ways to take out anger I got my parents to buy me a punching beg

just gotta get some ideas youll be fine

Hey Montana,
Let me start by saying that it's really hard to stop SH, but it's possible and if you try really hard and make an effort at it, you can stop cutting. It won't just happen, stopping it will take some time, but it's possible to quit doing it.
I think you should try some alternatives to cutting, like punching a pillow or anything else that's punchable, like a punching bag or stuffed animals. You could also try looking at the list of alternatives that are in the top of this forum, they are at

The alternatives really help, there are many suggestions and I'm sure that something on the list will work for you. Not everything will help you, but trying out the alternatives would be good before saying that none work, if one alternative doesn't help you, go to something else and if you manage to find something that helps you that isn't on the list, it can be added if you want it to be.
I also think you should try talking to your parents about this, they can really help you and might be able to get some form of help for the things that cause you to SH. I know that can be scary, but your parents love you and they want the best for you so I'm sure they'd do anything to get you away from cutting. You could try writing them a letter, in it you can explain what makes you cut and how hard it is for you to stop, after you write it, leave it somewhere where either both, or one of them will find it.
