oops. : [ - February 23rd 2011, 02:16 AM

is it bad that i want attention? that i want somebody to notice the pain that i feel. i feel like cutting is a cry for help. because honestly, it doesn't make me feel any better anymore. and i'm really tempted to wear short sleeves tomorrow even though i have "fuck up," cut on my arm, because honestly, i don't care anymore. i want somebody to notice. i want somebody to care. but i don't want to get into trouble. but otherwise, i'm overlooked and nobody gives a fuck and i mean nobody.

all i want is a place to call my own and
mend the hearts of everyone who feels alone,
you know to keep your hopes up high and your head down low.

I'm not sure that showing your arm just so someone will notice and help you is a good idea. Maybe you could try asking for help first. You seem pretty sure that you need help so asking is always a good step.

Hey Sammie.

It's actually not uncommon to feel how you're feeling. It's natural to want to be noticed, loved, and cared for. I understand how cutting can be a cry for help, but, unfortunately, other people may not. That's why the best way to cry for help is simply to say 'Help'. To reach out to someone and actually ask them to help you. Otherwise they may not even be aware you need it.

Just because people don't notice your pain doesn't mean they don't care. Maybe if you gave them a chance, asked them to help you, they'd be able to prove that to you. And I highly doubt nobody cares about you. At the very least, I do. We all do, here at TeenHelp. And I'm sure there are people in real life who do too.

Take care.

Hey there,

It's actually quite normal to feel the way that you are feeling. It's important to remember that you are not alone in this. One of the reasons I used to cut was because I wanted somebody to show they cared. I used to do it where no one could see it, but I would pull up my sleeve pretending to be hot, or something like that to see if someone would notice. The thing is, if you tell somebody that you are doing this to yourself then you are most likely going to get the attention you need/want. You have to say something in order to be heard. People aren't mind readers. They still definitely care for you, they just don't always see what you want them to see. Sometime our friends, and family's don't know how to react to something like that, and may not even know what to say. You just have to be honest and open with people.
