Hey,
First of all a month is brilliant, well done!
When you get the urges to cut, try the disract yourself with what ever you enjoy, maybe reading or writing. Also keep telling yourself that you don't want to relapse, so you shouldn't do it. Then hopefully the urges will fade.

Stay strong and take care

Firstly well done its an amazing achievement that you have gone a month without self harming So you can keep this up. I know its hard and you will want to cut but when you get these urges just try and do something else instead such as phone a friend, play a game or draw. It wont be easy but do you really want to fall back into old habbits when you have come this far?
Stay strong i know YOU CAN do it

Re: Less and less strong everyday - March 5th 2011, 04:20 PM

Hey there.

The fact that you were a month self harm free is absolutely amazing and its really inspirational. It proves that actually you can beat self harm, even though it gets hard at times, you can do it. keep reminding yourself that you went a whole month without self harming as a bit of motivation because that really is incredible.

I've said this to a few people before, but recovery isn't about just stopping self harming. If someone came to me and said they were in recovery and they were expecting to just stop and have no issues, I'd personally be thinking a bit different. The urges will still carry on, yes you can beat them, but they aren't just going to go away. Either will the triggers and the reasons behind why you self harmed in the first place. And all of this things can get blummin hard to beat at times and thats completely understandable. recovery is not about just stopping hurting yourself, its all about having slip ups as well and picking yourself back up. Which you can do, you can pick yourself back up and and start over. And that doesn't make you a failure or anything else, it proves you want to get out of this and that you are strong enough.

If you haven't already I really want to encourage you to take a look at the list of alternatives. Here is the link ... http://www.teenhelp.org/forums/f12-s...ves-self-harm/. I know sometimes when we have urges and feel triggered, trying to distract ourself seems like a real hard task and sometimes we don't want to, but you really have to force yourself. Not everything will work for you so its all about finding the things which do and forgetting about the ones that don't. Don't let them drag you down.

I know things are hard right now but they can and will get better. Don't be afraid to reach out to people for help. Talk to people. A parent, friend, doctor, school nurse, a teacher. They all care about you. You can do this, you can beat this. So keep going and don't ever give up.

Keep your chin up.
Jessie.
