Relapse - April 21st 2011, 04:59 AM

Yesterday, I slipped up from a 3 week run. =( I was doing so well, and all of the sudden the urge just came full force. I couldn't stop thinking about it. I didn't cut very much either, because I was in public. I just cut the tip of my thumb and part of my hand...=( It satisfied me for about 5 minutes. Ugh. Now I just want to release everything and I just am really struggling to keep my will up. I know it will feel so good to get rid of all the pressure, but I also know the pressure will just come back. =( I would just like some encouragement because that's all that I have left to maybe hang on to.

Hey, you know what girl, three weeks is great! That's really something to be proud of! I'm proud of you and I really hope you're proud of yourself too hon. Basically though, here's the thing...we've all got our tendencies. Some people tend to cut. Some tend to smoke. Some tend to lash out. The thing we've all gotta learn is to replace our tendencies instead of just avoiding them. Find something that's safe that can be your escape/release/whatever else cutting is for you. You're doing great and this slip up doesn't take away any of the lessons you've learned or the progress you've made. You're gonna be okay you've just gotta tell yourself the truth: that you're worth so much better than that.

Hey there Judith.

I really want to start by saying how amazing it is that you've gone three weeks with out self harm. That is such an amazing achievement and is something to be really proud of. Thtas a really long time for someone who self harms and I honestly think it's amazing of you!

I always tell people that recovering from self harm doesn't mean you suddenly one day decide you're going to stop hurting yourself and never do it again. You're going to get urges and get thoughts about it and its all about beating them. But admittedly a lot of people in recovery relapse at some point. The truth is its not about the slip up, it's not about the fact the you went three weeks with out self harm and now you've slipped up. Its all about picking yourself back up again and re-starting over. Just become you slipped in this once doesn't mean you will carry on doing so. You're in control and you can beat this.

I hope this helps a little. Stay strong.
Jessie.

Three weeks is awesome! I wish I could be that strong. Proud of you. Find a safe, healthy alternative. Write, draw, paint, whatever you like to do. Laugh at nothing. Just keep laughing, even if it's fake, it'll soon become real. Or just cry. Cry until your can't breathe. If need be, never hesitate to PM me. Stay strong. <3

You've gotta swim, swim for your life. Swim for the music that saves you, when you're not so sure you'll survive. You gotta swim and swim when it hurts. The whole world is watching. You haven't come this far to fall off the earth.
