Unhappy Again 0.0 - April 23rd 2011, 04:43 AM

I was trying to quit... AGAIN... and i failed... AGAIN. cuz my stupid mom had to bring up that whole thing with child well fare that happened last year and blamed me when it wasnt even my fualt and she knows how bad i get upset and i just cant control it D': she does this on purpose and before i knew it i had 7 new cuts, 4 were pretty deep. I think it would be wonderful to just quit but i just cant find a method that helps =/ please help... (ive tried ice, drawing on myself, butterfly project, drawing with nail polish, rubber band, spinning, drawing, listeing to music, and just about every other distracting thing i can think of)

Hey Renee.

I'm sorry to hear that things aren't that great right now. Fights with your parents can be really tough, so what I would recommend is this: fix it. Sounds simple, right? What I mean is, improve the communication between you and your mother. Maybe she doesn't know how you're feeling. Maybe she's not aware of how her own actions affect you. If you open up to her, you two can sit down and maybe work out a solution, which would get rid of this unneeded stress.

Trying alternatives instead of self harm is a great idea. If you haven't already, you should check out our alternatives thread, here. Some may not work, and I know that's discouraging, but chances are some will work, and when you find those, you'll be glad you didn't give up.

Is there someone you can talk to? A friend, family member, counsellor? You don't have to do this alone, and the better your support network, the better your chances of recovery. Just remember that no matter how many alternatives you try, if you don't deal with the thoughts or feelings that were causing you to self harm, you won't feel fully better. You have to replace self harm, and then deal with whatever was behind it. Does that make sense?

Good luck.

Nothing in the world is
the way it ought to be.
It's harsh, and cruel.

But that's why there's us - champions.
Doesn't matter where we come from,
what we've done or suffered,
or even if we make a difference.

We live as though the
world is as it should be,
to show it what it can be.
