Scars and sun -
August 12th 2011, 03:16 AM
Ok, so I have some scars on my arms, and when I go out in the sun they get darker. They're not that bad normally (not so bad that I have to cover them up), but after being in the sun, they get worse.
I know that being in the sun isn't great for scars, but I love laying in the sun, plus, I really want to get tan. So I was wondering, is there any way to keep scars from getting darker in the sun. I tried sunscreen on my scars a couple times, but I don't want a super uneven tan. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly. I bet sun screen would help, just put it over the scars themselves. Either that or just cover the scars, not your entire body or arm, maybe using band aids if they're very spread out or putting a towel over your arms, though you'll probably get some pretty weird looking tan lines.
For me personally, I just let them tan. Yeah, they kind of look worse, but I think it's less noticeable than the tan marks. Personally. But there are ways to prevent it.

Hey
![]() You're scars will get darker if your in the sun, but so will you're skin. You're tanning so you're scars are getting darker too! I don't think they would be any more noticeable then normal. I even found the sun helped with some of my less severe scars Good luck!

The sun has helped some of my scars but has made the ones on my arm show up abit more, No one has noticed them though, but I think its more because you know they are there you notice them more. You could try using a product like rescue oil or Bio oil after tanning to help reduce the appearance of the scars. Sun block would probably help somewhat, It's probably best to use sun-block as it is , You can still tan with sun block on, Sun block does not stop you tanning, It just stops the sun's UV rays giving you sunburn. And believe me the peeling look is not a good look when your tanned and in other places your peeling.
