I've cut again. I switched areas from my arms/wrists to my legs and other areas that I can hide easily without having to wear out of season clothes. I don't want to do it again but its hard with my mom being the way she is (telling me I'm a terrible person, telling me that everyone hates me, drinking and then blaming every problem on me and periodically hitting me.) I wish that she wasn't like this but most the problems at home are because of her drinking. Any advice/alternatives would be great!

Hey, I'm sorry that your mother is acting this way. Chances are you aren't the thing that's frustrating her and she's just having some problems handling her own life. You don't need to take it out on yourself, okay? Try to stay out of your house as much as possible, and see about getting your mom help somehow. If you haven't already seen the list of alternatives it's right here. Best of luck!

I know that I am probably not the thing frustrating her. This is how shes been for years and I've been SH'ing in some way since I was 7. I've tried getting both her and me help but nobody listens to me and people always take her side. I stay out of the house as much as possible already.

What your mother does is not right. Your going through a hard time, and what you need is support. In cutting, there' always down falls, and whatever negative names your mother calls u its not true. It might help if theres someone you can talk to about this, A frend or a counselor. If you have that right now, your a strong girl. No matter what happens it changes nothin. You are who u make urself be. And that can be somethin good (positive).

Ashley is right.
It's not your fault and what your mother does isn't right for her to do. In cutting, nothing is black and white. Very rarely can you just stop and never ever start up again. There are urges, and wants. You just have to believe that you're worth it, and you have to want to stop. You're strong, you can do this. <3 "yes maddie you are way better than "that great" you are amazing and sweet and i love you so much" <3
