Exclamation Please help. The urges are so strong! - November 9th 2011, 12:56 AM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I've been going in and out of depression for 3 years now. I've cut on and off during that time. Not sure what I should do. I've tried alternatives but the urge is so strong! I really want to take hold of the blade again. It helps turn my emotional pain into physical pain. My parents don't know about the depression or cutting and I can't tell them. A close friend told me if I start cutting again he won't talk with me any more. It helps and I reallly want to do it again but I don't want to lose him.

How can I resist? What should I do? Please help me. I'm hurting, confused, and don't know how much longer I can resist this desire.

I think maybe facing the feelings behind why you want to SH. If you deal with why you want to SH. And face whats bugging you or even just talk about it. It might be able to help. It worked for me.

You need to just let all of these emotions out some how. Maybe by talking with someone. Or just screaming into a pillow. I like to blast Bleed It Out by Linclon Park on repeat. And just sing along with it. And I try to focus on the lyrics and the meanings behind it and just all the emotions that go into the song. Or I write poetry about how I feel or read it on this site. Because it makes me feel like there are people who know how I feel. Even just watching tv or reading to escape how I am feeling.

Basically you need to find out what helps you cope and deal with your feelings. It will probably be different things than mine and here is even a list of alternatives. I really like the peal glue off like your hand because its random but actually really distracting. Haha

I like the poetry idea or something that can ehlp get it out .. or paiting .. perhaps something physical like running or boxing? Talking it through with a professional or others who have been in your shoes also is a good idea.

No matter what I trust you find the ansers you need that work best for you so you can put this part of your life behind youa nd live the life you were ment to have that is beautiful and full of other emotions too.

Ask me how you too can become a certified life coach as a teen or teen like person helping other teens through their goals and life, highly rewarding as you know.
