Something i've always wondered. - November 14th 2011, 08:59 AM

Not that i'm in danger or a relapse right now.
But, if someone who has been self harm free for awhile, slipped up and did one cut, would they have to re-start the count of years clean? even though it was just one and they stopped completely after?

just a random thought.
opinions?

Personally, I wouldn't count it if it was just that one little slip up.

If I was in that position, I would say "I've been clean for X years with one slip-up," or something along those lines. In my opinion, you shouldn't have to start counting over because of one slip-up.
Congrats on being SH free for so long by the way

I think if you slip up once you just breath and continue on with your count the next day. But with me I slipped up....then gave up and never tried to stop myself again.

Thanks guys
and yeah i feel the same. i don't think you should have to restart completely. i feel like slipping up once might actually show you how much you don't need to do it in some cases.

i did that one other time i had stopped for some time and then i completely threw in the towel. i just wasn't ready at that point in time i guess.
