Question Confusion about SH - December 4th 2011, 11:22 PM

This thread has been labeled as triggering, particularly on the subject of self harm, by the original poster or by a Moderator. The contents of this thread might therefore not be suitable for certain sensitive users. Please take this into consideration before continuing to read.

I'm 18, british, uni student, yadda yadda. But the reason I'm posting this is to see if anyone may have done the same thing or may have some explination for me, as the title suggests I'm a little confused about my self harm but not why I do it (though I should probably think that through a little more at some point), no my confusion stems from the fact that I only seem to cut the word 'LAUGH' (in capitals) into myself over and over. Not just that but since before I started doing it (bout 2 weeks ago) I started bursting into laughing fits at random times, no triggers for it, nothing amusing just sudden laughter. And more than this when I am cutting I don't feel any pain, it kinda tickles and just makes me giggle. It's really stumped me because I used to think I had a fairly good grasp on my psyche, I'm not particularly depressed (I have my ups and downs like everyone), I cycle a lot, I eat plenty of fruit/veg, I drink 2L of watr a day and I socialise plenty. It's just confusing me as to why hilarity has made it's way into an act of depression. I used to cut myself a bit a few years aho, but that was just basic cuts, and after 3 days I stopped because it hurt. I just don't understand what's happening at the moment. Any help/advice/etc would be appreciated. Thanks

I started cutting recently. And well like you said that you giggle and all, I do too. And I do it like it is a part of daily chore. Like I was studying and I was like "No one's around!lets cut!" And took a blade and started cutting. So I guess its not that weird after all.

Its easier said that done BUT most of the great things wouldn't have ever been done if they hadn't been said first.
