Stopping?!?! - January 6th 2012, 03:35 AM

I used to cut my wrist all the time but it got to the point it's all I wanted to do. I forced myself to stop bc I was over cutting cuts bc they became noticeable. Now I'm really wanting to do it again, how do I stop myself? Times are getting harder and feeling the rush is great. It makes me feel way better. Another problem is I still got my old scars tht won't go away.... Is there anything I can do to make them go away? if so what?

As far as trying to stop Self Harming, try checking out the Alternatives Sticky found at the top of the Self Harm board. If you want to diminish the appearance of your scars, anything with cocoa butter it will help.

Ya what Amber says. Also What I do to stop myself is I just repeat over and over the reasons why I stopped in the first place and the reasons why I shouldn't start again. I am not sure if that would be helpful to you or not but it has so far been helpful to me.

Hey there,

Self Harm is a vicious cycle and as you may know is addictive. I would suggest taking a look at the alternatives thread as posters above have suggested. It will help to distract you while the urges fade. It is trial and error and therefore not all may work for you, but hang in there and you WILL find one that does.
As for the scars, they will fade in time on their own, but some may not fade completely. Things such as bio oil may help to make them fade faster, but in time they will do it on their own.

If you ever want/need to talk, feel free to PM me
Take care and stay strong,
Charli
