Thumbs down Not good at all!!! maybe trigger - April 3rd 2009, 01:12 AM

So, recently i have been having such strong urges, and i am on the verge of relapsing!! I honestly had the blade in my hand and was about to press it to my skin.

I have been so stressed out lately. My boyfriend got surgery today, i was being yelled at constantly by my parents and older sister to clean the stupid house. UGH!!

I REALLY NEED TO CUT!!!!!! need to the stress to gush out of my veins!!!!!!!!!

Hey hun. I'm here for you. Did the surgery go alright? If so, be thankful for that! There's another reason to not cut. Is there anyone you can call? Or maybe just taking a nap or going to sleep will be good. Sometimes an urge will pass after you've slept. PM me if you need me. Just keep talking here.

So you have gray hair and you're only 26

that's just another reason I love you...

Hey Barb. :]

I know everything seems like a bit too much right now, but Self Harm will not make things any better. As I'm sure you know. You have been doing so well! Don't give in now.

There are loads of other ways you can get the stress out of you! Punch a pillow, kick a football, tear up paper, go out to the middle of a field and SCREAM! Anything that won't hurt you, but will still help get rid of all the built up tension!

The Alternatives To Self Harm thread is wonderful for finding ways to keep your mind off SH until the urges pass.

When you're having an urge, get rid off all sharp things, throw out any blades and get yourself into an environment that is not going to tempt you more.

It may be best to go for a walk and clear your head. You'd be out of the way of all those tempting objects and you could walk off the stress.

There are lots of better things to do than Self Harm. I know you're strong enough to resist!

PM me anytime you need help.

Take care.

Hey Barb,

I am really sorry that you are feeling like this. But I think you have done amazingly well to go 3 months without self harm. That is such an achievement! Honestly Barb your doing really well, and I don't think you just want to throw that away. Maybe think about what has helped you not to self harm during this 3 months, and maybe it could help again now. You are so much stronger than self harm so don't let it win. You can fight these urges so keep hanging on. The thread that Nicola suggested is definitely worth looking at, because you might find a few helpful distractions on there. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for you that your boyfriend has just had surgery. I hope it all went ok. I am here for you so if you ever need to talk then you are more than welcome to PM me. You can fight this :-)

Heya,

First off, well done for coming so far. The fact that you didn't cut when you were so close is amazing, and that can take the most strength!
It's no surprise that you're feeling so stressed, but there are tons of other ways you can release it like Nicola suggested. SH thoughts can be incredibly tempting and painful, but sometimes you have to accept that that's what they are, and try to fight them. Show them that you are stronger.

PM me if you need support
