Social Security Income? - March 1st 2016, 12:23 AM

So I've been having a real hard time finding and keeping jobs. Either I have to quit or be fired from being in the hospital or call off a lot because of my mental illnesses. I have bipolar 1, generalized anxiety, and ptsd. I don't know if I even would get SSI but I feel that right now it's my only choice. My parents tell me 'oh, you can work, you don't need SSI', but my counselor and case manager are thinking I could get it. I just want it for the time being, while I take my break for a while to get re adjusted and for my wellbeing. I know that it takes three months to a year to get it, but we'll see.

First things first, just because you don't get approved for SSI doesn't mean you don't need it. I get SSI but I was initially denied. And, from doing research and talking to other people they pretty much deny you at first and then you have to appeal it. SSI is really hard to get on but it couldn't hurt to try.

I think that applying for it couldn't hurt. If you are approved it will give you the chance to get more stable before going out and trying to work.

I got approved for SSI a number of years ago so I don't remember the whole entire process but if you have any questions I might be able to help to some degree.
