Why do you need to stop? Is it causing you pain? Harm? Money?

Its a little strange and the stuffs not meant for eating, it can't be benefical. How about providing an alternative? Minty chewing gum?

It says on my tooth paste that if you swallow more than is used for a normal teeth brusing session to get medical help or contact a poison control center. So, I am going to go ahead and say that is might be hurting you to eat significant amounts of tooth paste.

But then again, this might not be just an addiction. There are other medical disorders out there that make you crave things, including things that are considered not normal to eat. I can’t diagnose you, no one here can, but because of this, I really think you need to let your doctor know about this and how long it has been going on.

I agree. It could be considered "pica" -- when someone has a strong desire to eat something that has absolutely no nutritional value to them. It is often times linked to another mental disorder.

Yes swallowing toothpaste is not good because it is basic (a base, as in an acid opposite) and it can react with the HCl (hydrochloric acid) in your stomach, which neutralises it.
I dont know how I would stop doing it though...um just dont do it Substitute it with chewing gum or mints or somethng

Get rid of all the toothpaste in your house. For brushing your teeth, pick out the most disguisting flavor from the store -- one that you have always hated eatting. Make this the only flavor avalible to you around your house. This should reduce your habbits greatly, because you will not be tempted to eat it all the time if you hate it =]

if you insist on eating toothpaste get the little toddler toothpastes that have no flouride and are safe to swallow until you are ready to transit to chewing gum,or mints because eating regular toothpaste can and will make you very ill

toothpaste can be very harmful if you eat too much so I would suggest immediately transfering to something else. You could try a minty type of candy that has a similar texture. I'm sure they have something similar to that with all the new and wierd candies they have now :b and I actually do remember eating some kind of Christmas candy before that reminded me of toothpaste. You should try looking around online and see what you can find best of luck to you!
