Question Is this a problem? - July 26th 2010, 07:44 PM

I have to have chocolate at least once very few days, because otherwise i get really depressed and grumpy, or really hyper and i can't calm down. I am the same way toward coffee, and I sometimes have the same thing toward alcohol, but i can hold off the reactions since i only get alcohol once very few months.

Help?
Is there any way i can stop eating so much chocolate? It's an addiction, i can't stop. I've tried to slowly get off chocolate, but i just... can't. I've been pretty good about sugar, but it's just something about chocolate i can't live without. (Or die, for that matter ... )

Well, it does sound like a problem whenever you can't live without something. Chocolate isn't as bad, especially since you're only having it every couple of days. But if it's something you're uncomfortable with I would suggest trying to limit your use more to weekly. Remember, that you're born without chocolate and other substances, you can definitely get on with life without it.

You could probably start slowly, by buying lower calorie chocolate or the sugarless type. Try chewing gum whenever you crave it. But I wouldn't be too worried. You don't sound like you're dangerously craving it or eating too much. But if you don't feel okay with how often you eat chocolate, then this is something I think you should put yourself into changing. It is more of a problem if it effects your mood and your life style. Definitely think about cutting back because of that.

I'm the same way, except I can't even go a day without it. However I'm on the really strict diet right now but I get my chocolate through protein shakes.

Chocolate protein powder
Natural peanut butter 1tbs
Walden Farms chocolate syrup (it's [Edited by Keeley: Please don't post calorie or fat numbers.] doesn't taste good by itself but does in the shake) 2tbs
A little over a cup of water
and a few handfuls of ice.

It's tasty chocolately and not bad for you

I think this thread is more appropriate for the Addictive Behaviors forum, so I've gone ahead and moved it there.

I think if it is just once every few days it is not a huge problem.

If you see it as one though you can always try limiting your SUPPLY.
