knuckle cracking -

i have been doing it for as long as i can remember and i cant stop it. the cracks are really loud and somewhat satifying for some reason but i know i will be better off without it
 i have been making a conscious effort to stop it the last few months but it seems like its happening without me realising and once its happened im like.. 'dammit.. i didnt want to do that'. any advice on giving this up? BaconStrips& BaconStrips& BaconStrips& BaconStrips& BaconStrips... |

Knuckle cracking is one of my pet peeves! It makes me cringe!
 I have no idea how i would stop. Sorry i am not much help. I bite my nails though, so i know what you mean when you say you have an addictive behavior that you want to stop! |

I also do this daily! It's so satisfying xD I don't think it has any potential long term effects, but I can understand your reasoning behind wanting to stop doing it.
Unfortunately I have no advice other than to just not do it. But I know it's not as easy as that! |

I have this problem as well. But for me, as sick as it sounds, it's not only my knuckles. I can crack my neck, back, shoulders, tailbone, and toes. I don't know what it is, but I find myself doing it without even thinking about it. My husband is just as weird, though... He can crack his sternum (the area directly between your ribs in the center of your chest).

I USED to crack my knuckles :P
I didn't, then I did again, then I didn't, I did, and now I don't  I always hear that it always makes your fingers like... fat? And I can be quite self conscious; and I didn't want people to say I have fat fingers... SOOOO; I pushed myself to stop So maybe try to find a reason to stop? And always think of that? You'll crack your knuckles occasionally... and then knuckle cracking will be goneeeee!  good luck     |

Ah.. I have the same problem.. I find when i try not to crack them my fingers actually start to ache and i HAVE to or itll hurt..
I have tried for so long to stop and Im finally at the point where I give up lol Brittany

seeing as people are posting in here again, I would like to update that my efforts to rid myself of this habit have indeed been futile
I am going to not bother trying to stop and hope that me not thinking about wanting to stop will actually help me stop

It's a habit for me too haha. I've been doing it for a few years now after my friend started doing it. Since it doesn't cause arthritis I never really had a reason to stop.

This is one habit I've never had. That's because my knuckles don't crack. My little sister does it all the time, though.
