Unhappy Pulling my hair out - November 15th 2010, 12:12 AM

So, ever since I was 11, I've been pulling my hair out. In 5th grade, I pulled out all of my eyebrows and eyelashes and in 6th grade, I had little bald spots on my head. It was really humiliating. Since then, I've been able to control it by just pulling off the dead ends of my hair and I'll occasionally pull out an eyebrow or lash, but it's still really embarrassing when I'm not paying attention in school because I'm too busy pulling off my dead ends. Not to mention the little pile of my hairs around wherever I'm sitting. Could there be something wrong with me? Or is it just a bad habit?

when nothing goes right, i go left.

I'd highly suggest seeing a psychologist of some sort. I know people that had this habit, and they actually had a disorder of sorts.

"'Colie, you should never be surprised when people treat you with respect. You should expect it.'
I shook my head. 'You don't know--' I began. But, as usual, she didn't let me finish.
'Yes,' she said simply, 'I do know. I've watched you, Colie. You walk around like a dog waiting to be kicked. And when someone does, you pout and cry like you didn't deserve it.'
'No one deserves to be kicked,' I said.
'I disagree,' she said flatly. 'You do if you don't think you're worth any better...'"

I'm pretty sure you have trichtillomania.
Its serious, because you can tear your hair out and damage the roots so they don't grow back.
