I think the short answer is that you get rid of your cell phone. You remove the source of the addiction, you remove the ability to engage in it.
The longer answer (and the work in therapy) is to determine what it is about immediate, continuous contact that is so important to you and why you lack the self control to modulate that need.
It's a self control issue, the ability to effectively control one's urges, regardless of how powerful they are.
